With the start of each new year, many of us sit by the TV to hear what fortune tellers have to say about the coming year. Today, I’m giving away my predictions for Instagram as I see it as the most booming social media in 2020.
Ok, cut the crap, I only did some research on the best social media in 2020 and came out with the following study that might help you to determine your next marketing channel.
No doubt that Instagram has grown massively over the last four years; The channel witnessed a lot of upgrades and developments and became a solid mobile social media used by all. Here’s some stats I’ve collected that proves my point:
Who’s on Instagram?
Here’s some stats you would want to consider:
- 1 billion people use Instagram every month
- 500 million people use Instagram stories every day
- 200 million Instagram users visit one business profile daily
- 63% of Instagram users login at least once per day
- 34% of Instagram users are millennials
- 25% of smartphone owners use Instagram
This is good so far, here’s also some stats about the financial earnings of the adults on Instagram
- 30% earn up to $30K/year
- 42% earn between $30K to $50K
- 32% earn between $50K to $75K
- 42% earn $75K and over

Build a strong business profile for your brand
With more than 25 million business profiles available on Instagram and 200 million users visiting at least one business profile every day, and a percentage of 19.20 of users who follow at least one brand, you must consider building a strong profile for your brand. 90% of top brands are on Instagram.
You need to differentiate however a personal profile from a business profile. Through Instagram business profile, you are able to monitor the analytics of your followers and the posts you share. You can also get a more professional look for your profile and launch Instagram ads.
To setup your business profile, you need to have a Facebook page first. Then, tap on the “gear” icon to access your account settings and tap on “Switch to Business Profile” and then connect to Facebook.
Use Instagram Stories:
With 400 million stories a day and 1/3 of the most viewed stories are from businesses, Instagram stories continues to rule the “Story” battle today. Many of you might be surprised how can a business benefit from stories over Instagram, but with a third of the most viewed stories created by brands, marketers should really get on this wagon.
It is what makes Instagram special! Why? Because you are able to promote a photo or a video from 1 to 15 seconds targeting people on their preferred network.
One final tip to have in mind; if you have a follower base of more than 10,000 followers, you can use the “Swipe up” feature to send visitors to your website.
Post Daily on Instagram
An average of 95 million posts per day are posted on Instagram with around 4.2 billion “likes”. These numbers indicate the high interaction rate Instagram can deliver – it is even higher than Facebook. If you don’t post daily there’s a chance you might be missing an opportunity to engage with your audience and start a relation.
We’ve said it in previous posts and we say it again…Video marketing is the next big thing. Try to make the most out of it – especially on Instagram. Video creation witnessed an increase of 80% year-by-year, and that is because users love videos, and would spend more time watching a small video ad or a video post than reading it.
Stay Fresh with Your Audience
Your audience is searching for you and are willing to buy your products. Stay fresh with your images, your videos, and your stories to gain more visibility. Studies show that 60% of users discover products on Instagram. The same study indicates that more than 70% of users buy a product or benefit from a service they saw on Instagram.
It’s becoming the number one reliable social media people depend on to make their purchases. Why? Well simply because it’s built as a mobile app whereas other social media are customized to mobile. Over a third of Instagram users have used their mobile to purchase a product online– making them 70 percent more likely to do so than non-users.
Last but Not Least – Advertise on Instagram
No matter what your budget is, you can always advertise through Instagram. Whether you want to redirect users on your website, promote a story or a post, you can start with a $5/day budget and trust me, it is worth it.
Instagram recorded a high of 18.2 million monthly advertisers last year and the number is expected to increase in 2019.
Bottom line, with these stats in front of you, I believe it’s time to put a successful plan into action. Take the full benefit of this social channel and witness the difference. Make sure your Instagram activity isn’t a walk-through, it should be used as a primary channel.
